Crumple Rumble is a fast and funny stickman fighting game drawn on notebook paper. You pick one of five doodle fighters, chain punches and kicks into combos and charge a power bar for a special move, all while the paper arena around you does its own silly things.

The best moment comes at the end of a fight. When your rival is dizzy, the announcer shouts "Wrap it up!" and your final hit decides how they leave the match: flattened, folded into a paper plane, blown up like a balloon, erased, and eight more cartoon endings. It is all doodles and paper, so the fights feel like a comic you are drawing as you play.

Crumple Rumble has plenty of ways to play, from an arcade ladder of four rivals and a final boss to a daily challenge, endless survival and a two-player mode on one keyboard or touch screen. It is perfect for friends who want a quick, silly duel.

How to play Crumple Rumble

Choose your fighter and a mode. In Arcade you climb a ladder of four rivals and a final boss; in Survival you fight as long as you can; the Daily Challenge adds a new twist each day; and 2 Players lets you fight a friend on the same device.

In a fight, move towards your rival, then mix punches and kicks to build combos. Block when they attack and use the dash to get in or out quickly. Pick up weapons such as pencils, staffs and pipes when they appear. Every hit fills your power bar; when it is full, press the special key to unleash your super move.

When your rival is dizzy, finish them with your last hit to see one of the funny paper endings. Keep an eye on the arena too: each one changes the rules, and a floating switch can flip it to dark mode with low gravity.

• A / D: move, W: jump
• J: punch, K: kick, L: block
• Shift: dash, I: special move, P: pause
• Touch: drag the stick to move, flick up to jump, tap Attack, hold Block, tap Super
• 2 Players: Player 1 uses A D W S F G H and Left Shift; Player 2 uses the arrow keys, K, L and Right Shift

Tips and tricks

• Mix punches and kicks instead of pressing one button; varied combos are harder to block.
• Save your full power bar for when the rival is low on health so the special move finishes the fight.
• Grab weapons quickly, before your opponent reaches them.
• Use the dash to escape when you are cornered against the edge of the page.
• Learn how each paper arena changes the rules, especially the low-gravity dark mode.
