About Rope Chef

Rope Chef is a cute physics puzzle game about cooking, where every ingredient hangs on a rope above a pot. Your job is to cut the ropes at just the right moment so each ingredient swings, bounces or floats into the pot in the order shown on the recipe card.

Get the order right and the dish is served. Drop the wrong ingredient first, or miss the pot completely, and Nibbs, the little steamed-bun chef, faints in the most dramatic way. It is hard not to smile while you play.

The game has 50 short levels spread over 14 cuisines from around the world, including Japan, Italy, Mexico, India, Korea, France and Peru. Each new world adds a twist, from bubbles and fans to portals, conveyor belts and slippery ice. Rope Chef is a lovely choice for kids and for anyone who enjoys calm puzzles that still make you think.

How to play Rope Chef

Look at the recipe card at the top of the screen first. It tells you which ingredient has to land in the pot first, second and so on. Then look at how the ropes hang and where each ingredient will swing when it is cut.

To cut a rope, click or drag across it with the mouse, or swipe across it on a touch screen. Time your cut so the ingredient's swing carries it into the pot. Some levels have bubbles that lift ingredients up; tap a bubble to pop it and let the ingredient drop.

Each dish can earn up to three stars: one for serving it, one for grabbing the spice and one for beating the par time. Use the ghost line to preview a swing before you cut, and if you get stuck, you can skip a dish and come back to it later.

Tips and tricks

• Always read the recipe card before cutting anything; the order matters more than speed.

• Stars unlock new worlds, so a few three-star dishes can open the next cuisine faster.
